WH-QUESTIONS (Câu hỏi có từ để hỏi) – Ngữ Pháp Tiếng Anh Lớp 6
Để nắm vững ngữ pháp tiếng Anh lớp 6, việc hiểu và sử dụng thành thạo các từ để hỏi (WH-questions) là vô cùng quan trọng. Bài viết này sẽ giúp các em học sinh lớp 6 ôn tập và thực hành cách đặt câu hỏi với các từ để hỏi phổ biến.
A. LÝ THUYẾT
Câu hỏi WH- (WH-questions) là loại câu hỏi bắt đầu bằng các từ để hỏi như when, where, who, why, what, which, whose, whom, how…
a. Nguyên tắc đặt câu hỏi:
- Nếu không có trợ động từ (am, is, are, was, were, can, will, shall, could, would, have, has, had…), ta mượn trợ động từ do / does / did.
- Nếu có trợ động từ, ta đảo trợ động từ ra trước chủ ngữ, không mượn do / does / did.
b. Các từ để hỏi thường gặp:
- When?: Khi nào (hỏi về thời gian)
- Where?: Ở đâu (hỏi về địa điểm, nơi chốn)
- Who?: Ai (hỏi về người, là chủ ngữ)
- Why?: Tại sao (hỏi về lý do)
- What?: Cái gì, gì (hỏi về vật, sự việc, ý kiến, hành động)
- Which?: Cái nào (hỏi về sự lựa chọn)
- Whose?: Của ai (hỏi về sự sở hữu)
- Whom?: Ai (hỏi về người, là tân ngữ)
- How?: Như thế nào (hỏi về cách thức, phương pháp)
- How far?: Bao xa (hỏi về khoảng cách)
- How long?: Bao lâu (hỏi về khoảng thời gian hoặc độ dài)
- How often?: Bao lâu một lần (hỏi về tần suất)
- How many?: Bao nhiêu (hỏi về số lượng, dùng với danh từ đếm được)
- How much?: Bao nhiêu (hỏi về giá cả, số lượng, dùng với danh từ không đếm được)
- How old?: Bao nhiêu tuổi (hỏi về tuổi)
Ví dụ:
a/ I met my uncle yesterday.
→ Whom did you meet yesterday? (Bạn đã gặp ai hôm qua?)
b/ Peter gives me this gift.
→ Who gives you this gift? (Ai đã tặng bạn món quà này?)
c/ Our train is arriving in the evening.
→ When is your train arriving? (Khi nào tàu của bạn đến?)
d/ I had a cup of coffee and a slice of bread for breakfast.
→ What did you have for breakfast? (Bạn đã ăn gì vào bữa sáng?)
e/ Peter didn’t come to the party because he was ill.
→ Why didn’t Peter come to the party? (Tại sao Peter không đến bữa tiệc?)
f/ It’s Jane’s car.
→ Whose car is it? (Đây là xe của ai?)

14 – Where was your father last month? (Bố của bạn đã ở đâu tháng trước?)
15 – How did he travel to Nha Trang? (Ông ấy đã đi Nha Trang bằng phương tiện gì?)
